How to Find an IMEI Number on iPhone and Android

7 min readUpdated 6/25/2026

Every Reliable Way to Find a Phone's IMEI

The IMEI is normally a 15-digit identifier for cellular-capable devices. Use more than one method when buying used so you can confirm that the identifier shown in Settings matches the device, box, and sale documentation.

Fastest Method: Dial *#06#

Open the phone dialer and enter *#06#. Most phones display the IMEI immediately without placing a call. Dual-SIM phones may show IMEI 1 and IMEI 2.

Find IMEI on iPhone

  1. Open Settings → General → About.
  2. Scroll to IMEI or IMEI2.
  3. Press and hold the number to copy it.

If the iPhone is unavailable, check the original box, purchase invoice, a paired Finder or iTunes device record, or the device list associated with the owner's Apple Account where available.

Find IMEI on Android

Open Settings → About phone and look for IMEI, Status, or Device identifiers. Samsung, Google Pixel, Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, OnePlus, Motorola, and other brands use slightly different labels.

Find IMEI When the Phone Will Not Turn On

  • Check the original retail-box barcode label.
  • Check the carrier or retailer invoice.
  • Inspect the SIM tray or rear label on models that print the IMEI there.
  • Review the owner's Apple, Google, carrier, or manufacturer device account where available.

IMEI on Dual-SIM and eSIM Phones

Record every displayed IMEI. IMEI 1 and IMEI 2 identify different cellular slots or radio identities. An EID is an eSIM identifier and is not the same as an IMEI.

Protect the Number

Share an IMEI only when necessary for a legitimate check, sale, support request, insurance claim, or carrier process. Avoid publishing the complete number in public listings or screenshots.

What to Do Next

Use the free IMEI validator to check the number format or the free identity check for available brand, model, and TAC information. Blacklist, carrier lock, warranty, and account status require reports that explicitly include those fields.
