Huawei & Honor IMEI Check Guide

5 min readUpdated 6/25/2026

Huawei and Honor IMEI Check

Due to US trade restrictions, Huawei devices sold after May 2019 do not include Google Mobile Services (GMS). An IMEI check is critical when buying used Huawei or Honor devices to identify the exact model and confirm whether it supports GMS.

Finding IMEI on Huawei / Honor

  • Dial *#06#
  • Settings → About Phone → IMEI
  • SIM tray or retail box
  • Settings → System → About Phone → Status

Key Checks for Huawei Devices

  • Model and manufacture date — devices produced before May 16, 2019 support GMS (Google Play, Maps, Gmail)
  • Carrier lock — some Huawei devices sold through European carriers are network-locked
  • GSMA blacklist — especially important given the active resale market for older GMS-compatible Huawei models

Honor Devices (Spun Off from Huawei)

Honor was sold off from Huawei in 2020 and regained access to Google services. Honor 50, Honor Magic series, and newer models support GMS. An IMEI check on IMEI Check Pro will identify whether your Honor device is a GMS-supported variant.
