5 min readUpdated 6/25/2026

IMEI Check for the UAE

Dubai and the broader UAE are major hubs for grey-market smartphones, parallel imports, and re-exported electronics. Whether buying on Dubizzle, Facebook Marketplace, or from mall traders, an IMEI check is essential in the UAE.

UAE Phone Market Specifics

  • Parallel imports — US, EU, and Asian market phones sold in UAE without local warranty. IMEI check identifies the origin market.
  • iCloud-locked iPhones — Very common in UAE's tourist-heavy second-hand market
  • Carrier lock — Etisalat (e&) and du occasionally sell locked devices. Most UAE market phones are unlocked.
  • International blacklist — UK/US blacklisted phones commonly appear in UAE resale

TRA IMEI Registration in UAE

The UAE's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) maintains an IMEI registry. Non-registered or cloned IMEI devices may be blocked. Verify legitimacy via IMEI Check Pro's free tool and use the premium report for full blacklist and iCloud verification.
